Supplemental Web Video & Visuals
As a multimedia journalist, I use all forms of media to tell stories. If the story is vivid, rich or colorful, it would probably told best through supplemental web video. These videos often accompany text, audio or other elements in a package. In convergence reporting, along with my team, I created video vignettes highlighting letter carriers in Columbia. We had to drive around Columbia following a mail truck while I held the camera out of the moon roof capturing video. We really do follow the motto "telling compelling stories no matter how." In convergence editing, I did a profile on a local church picnic and art camp. Since then, I have specialized in mobile journalism and have produced several stories taken and edited on an iPhone 4.
FEATURED: Roots 'N' Blues 'N' BBQ
For my senior project, I studied best practices for mobile journalism. Most of work can be found on the Reynolds Journalism Institute's website or on my blog about the experience, Mobile Journalism Tools. (For more information on my project, visit Web, under Blogging). This is a photo slideshow that I took and edited on the iPhone. You will notice that there are several key differences between this slideshow and a more traditional one. This is mainly due to the fact that the technology of iPhone applications has not caught up to the that of computers - but it is not far behind.

Karis Community Church hosted an art camp for children called "Re-Create" on Sept. 19. The event, held in Douglass Park, taught children about art, music, and poetry. The church also held a picnic for the surrounding community.
